Last year, Skallerup Seaside Resort posted profits of DKK 7.1 million. This record result has been secured due to the fact that during recent years the holiday resort has focused on making the holiday experience for its guests even better. When it comes to deciding where to go on holiday, many people choose to head for Skallerup Seaside Resort near Lønstrup. The holiday resort has just published record results for 2016.
The financial statements for 2016 show a turnover of DKK 83.1 million and a profit of DKK 7.1 million. These results represent the best return in the 68 years during which the holiday resort has existed. In comparison with 2015, which was also a record year, turnover increased by DKK 3.8 million, whilst profits rose by DKK 1.2 million. It is the thirteenth year in succession that the holiday resort has made a profit.
According to Managing Director for Skallerup Seaside Resort, Niels Bro, the figures are the result of the fact that the holiday resort facing out onto the North Sea rolls up its sleeves ready for work at the same time as its guests are relaxing into holiday mode.
“We offer our guests high quality in terms of our many activities, our holiday homes and our employees, who are always ready to provide a helping hand. In recent years we’ve been focusing on improving service to an even greater degree. And of course we’re very satisfied that our results are proof of the fact that our guests appreciate our efforts,” says Niels Bro.
Customer satisfaction rating of 98 percent Skallerup Seaside Resort offers its guests more than 100 indoor and outdoor activities, ranging from a water park to a riding centre and wellness section.
“We have a customer satisfaction score of 98 percent, and our efforts to deliver high quality have also meant that many guests return to the resort. During the last five years, the number of returning guests has risen from 60 to 68 percent,” says Niels Bro.
At the beginning of 2017, Skallerup Seaside Resort received a Travellers Choice award in the “Best service in Denmark” category from the world’s biggest travel site, TripAdvisor, for the third year running.
Profits ploughed back into new initiatives The holiday resort is owned by the Skallerup Foundation, with any profits being reinvested in the holiday resort. This year has seen investment in a new 400-square-metre fitness centre with a sea view and in 10 new holiday homes, taking the total up to 282 dwellings.
One of the next major investments will be the refurbishment of restaurants and kitchen, a project that is due to be commenced this winter.
“We’ve had a really good start to 2017, and many of the summer weeks are already fully booked. So we expect to achieve a result on a par with that in 2016,” says Niels Bro.
